Well, all of a sudden I just got an idea to search about income of internet top sites like Google, Yahoo, Facebook etc. And after spending an hour or so searching on Google, here is what I have got.

We all know that Google is the top most visited site on the web and no one is prepared well enough to push Google aside. Than it obvious makes sense to say that Google is the top earner site in this list. It is estimated that Google has more than 900 million regular users. With this huge user base google earns nearly $655 per second. Can you believe that?? Google earns most of its revenue from advertising to be precise about 97%.

Facebook is second on the list of most visited site on the web. It is estimated that it has about 700 million monthly users. Even though Facebook is second on the most visited site, its revenue is far more less than Google. Facebook earns about $26 every second. The main revenue source for Facebook is via advertising.

Yahoo is third on the list of most visited sites on the web. Yahoo has about 500 million monthly users. Yahoo earns about $180 per second. Yahoo is well known for its services like News, Mail, Maps and movies. Like others, yahoo also earns through advertising.

YouTube is the fourth most visited site on the web. YouTube has about 450 million regular monthly users. YouTube earns about $13 per second. YouTube is a free video uploading site and is used to freely share your videos. YouTube also makes its money from advertising.

Next on the list is Amazon which doesn’t have a huge user base but it manages to earn more than all other sites mentioned above. Amazon earns about $680 per second. Amazon has an user base of about 325 million monthly regular users. Amazon is well known for selling books and other items.

Let us know in the comments if you belong to one of the regular users of these sites. For me, I am a regular user of Google, Facebook, Yahoo and YouTube.

So, lets see what happened in 2011 that caught the eye of the world.

1. Death of Bin Laden: Boy he was hiding for such a long time. He was the target of the greatest man hung in history. He was the man responsible for the twin tower attack which took thousands of lives and unimaginable damage. He was finally caught in Pakistan (not on a cave!!) and killed in a top secret operation carried out by US Army. He was killed on May 2, 2011.

2. Japanese Earthquake: This year was a worse one for people of Japan because they had to face their worse experience once again, the nuclear disaster. The 9.0 Magnitude earthquake hit Japan and created the worse disaster on 2011. This disaster claimed 15,842 lives and possibly more. And even more disturbing was the series of equipment failures, total meltdown and release of radioactive materials from Nuclear Power Plant at Fukushima.

From global issues, lets move to technology and see what people are talking about on the most popular social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter and Youtube. Lets see what was the search trend on these sites.

Windows is not the only Operating system out there. There are several others like Mac OS X, UNIX and Linux. Out of these Linux is the most important and easily available OS. Most importantly its free and open source. You can get various distribution of Linux like Ubuntu, Edubuntu, Kubuntu, Fedora, Open SUSE, Red Hat etc. Out of these only Red Hat is an enterprise version; rest of the distribution is free. You can download the .iso available in sites or you can request a free CD of ubuntu. I will be guiding you through the process of migrating on Linux. Before we start lets talk about some reason to adopt Linux for you. Here are some reasons for you to use Linux.

Free and open source: All Linux distribution is free and open source. You have all the access to the source code and you can modify it as you please.

Linux is fast: You can find various distribution of Linux according to your hardware configuration. Linux runs on a very low hardware configuration. You will surely get a good distribution of Linux for your hardware.

Stable: Linux is very stable. Some people might think it otherwise by my experience with Linux says that it’s very stable if you know what you are doing. Crash problem is Linux is rare.

Rapidly developing: Linux is changing day by day. A new stable version of Linux is available every year or so. You will get help in few days if you encounter any bug.

Programs: Linux has a variety of free and open source software available of download from Internet. You can also get commercial software if free software doesn’t satisfy your needs.

Wide application: Linux can be found from super computers to handheld devices. Apache is popular in web server and is Linux based. You might be surprised by Linux has been incorporated in wrist watch as well.

Easy to use: It is said that Linux is for geeks, but that’s not true. Linux is suitable for all users from newbie to Experts. Installing ubuntu is very easy and you can install it along with other OS like windows. One you install Linux you don’t have to take care of drivers and stuffs like that. Most hardware is compatible with Linux and if any hardware is not installed properly than you can get plenty of helps in configuring that hardware in sites or Forums.

Easy Internet: Linux has been configured well for easy internet access. You don’t have to configure your LAN Card etc. Install Linux and use internet, as easy as that.

This is only a few ones. Once you start using Linux you will find out many more.

Installing Linux into your system sometimes becomes a very difficult task for most of us especially when we are new to Linux. Fortunately, there is a very easy way of installing Ubuntu along with your windows OS so that you can get a good taste of Linux (Ubuntu). Actually the installation of Ubuntu along with your Windows machine is as simple as installing any other software in Windows OS.

In this post I will give you a step by step guide on installing Ubuntu along with Wndows OS.

Here are some steps that you have to follow while installing Ubuntu.Go to Ubuntu site and get the latest version of Ubuntu. Currently its 9.10 (This is the latest version, released in October of 2009 and maintained until 2011) or you can go for Ubuntu 8.04 LTS (Released in April 2008 and maintained until April 2011 – ideal for large deployments). Download link: http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download

Download the ISO image and burn it into a blank CD. Now, you are ready to use Ubuntu. You can either run the CD as a live one where you will use Ubuntu without changing anything to your system. To use as live CD, simply put Ubuntu CD into CD tray and Restart your computer. Then follow onscreen instruction. If you are planning to install ubuntu into your system the here are some easy guidelines for you.

Put your Ubuntu CD on the drive and you will see like this (if it doesn’t auto run the you will have to double click on your CD drive icon)

Choose the option “Install inside Windows” Once you have done that, you will see this

This is the vital step. In this step, you will choose the drive where you want to install ubuntu, select username and password and installation size. Lets discuss these settings one by one. I have marked numbers in screen shot and lets discuss them one by one.

1. In this option you will choose the drive where you want to install Ubuntu. My recommendation is that you make a separate partition of at least 10GB for ubuntu installation. You have to select the drive here.

2. In this setting, you will choose the Installation size for ubuntu. This is simply a reservation size that Ubuntu can use for storing system files and your files as well. My suggestion is that you allocate a minimum of 6GB for this option because you might have a lot of files to store one you get hang of ubuntu.

3. In this step you will have to set the username and password for root user. A root user in ubuntu is simply an Administrator equivalent of Windows with some twist. Make sure that you remember this password because this will be required for installing various software and other administrative work on ubuntu.

Once you are done with these setting, press install and you are ready to install ubuntu.

The screenshot you are seeing above is of installation process. Wait for some time and the installation will be completed. That’s it!

Now restart your computer and select Ubuntu from the boot selection menu.

congratulations! You have installed ubuntu inside windows and now you are ready to enjoy the Ubuntu OS and its features.

One of the biggest and most frequently asked question online in the Internet Marketing industry is “How do I get started”.

Most people, acquire a cheap “Make money online” E-book and then they read half way through it and think “well this helped me none.. I just don’t understand”.

I know some people will disagree, but breaking into Internet Marketing and being successful takes determination and is very hard to do.

FIRST OFF: I see too many people trying to just make money. They’re only in it for the money and only want to make some sales.

This is a big problem. Why?

No one comes online looking to randomly buy things. Everyone is looking for an answer to a problem they’re having or looking for a solution to something. Remember.. your job is not to make a sale but to solve someone’s problem and in turn.. that is what will make you a sale.

So what do you need to make money online?

#1: You need a clue.
Anyone can search google for answers to making money online, but you’ve got to have an understanding of what you’re doing or you’ll always be running around searching for answers.

#2: You need a plan/idea.
Brainstorm! You need to have a mapped out vision in your head of your business. Do you plan on purchasing a domain and starting a product on dog health care, buying domains and selling them, selling home made materials on e-bay, writing articles, etc. There are so many options out there for what you want to do, but you’ve got to have an idea and a plan before you can start making money. Brainstorm in your head and think to yourself..

“What am I good at?”
“What am I knowledgeable about?”
“What is something I really enjoy doing/talking about?”
“How do I plan on providing information on this product?”

#3: You need a website.
Unless you plan on marketing to forums and groups (which isn’t a very well played out business plan) you need to establish a website. Before you start thinking “I have no money for a website”. You can always start a blogger. www.blogger.com

If you’re looking at starting a website, I would highly recommend Host Gator to beginners and novice marketers. The options of managing/running your website are great and at such a low cost, it’s hard for me to refuse Host Gator when ever I plan on getting a website.

Hosting at Host Gator starts out at $4.95 so this is great for a beginner’s website or just starting out.

Now comes the part I had trouble with when I began. Website Design/Website creation. I am not a HTML savvy guy.. believe me. While I am sure there are many sources you could hire for you to create your website, I believe everyone should learn to create their own material at one point or another.

You need a website with an easy design/layout because anything hard to read or something that doesn’t look professional will have a much lower conversion rate than what you hope for.

Remember, when you’re writing your sales copy/creating your product… you’re speaking out to people that have a problem and are in need of a solution.

Make Money E-Book – People are broke.. who wants to be broke?
Train Your Dog E-Book – A loud and undisciplined dog is a danger to you and everyone around you.
A Guide To Smart Car Buying – Learn to save gas and to save earth

Do you see what I am saying? You have to speak to people in the certain niche you’re trying to sell in, because you’re trying to fix a problem someone has or answer a question that someone has.

In my opinion, fear and hype are two of the biggest sellers there are.

Trying to sell a vehicle? Examine your audience.. a young man will be interested in something fast and loud and will want to impress the ladies in his hot new ride. You have to know who you’re selling too and get them hyped, because a hungry crowd always comes back for more.

Don’t get me wrong now.. I am not saying a website is the only way you will ever make money period, I am just saying that this is probably the best way to create an automated source of income.

#4: Patience/Consistence.
If making money online was as easy as snapping your fingers.. everyone would be e-millionaires.
So many people quit trying once they find out how much work is actually involved in creating an online business and being good at what you do. You have got to keep consistent.

You’ve got a killer website but no sales, why not?
Get inside your market’s head and view your website not from your point of view but theirs. Do not think “how will this make me money” but “will this solve my problem”?

Be consistent and always add new fresh content and possibly new products to keep your customers/readers coming back for more. A hungry crowd can never get enough no matter how much they spend.

Now then, here are some suggestions as to when you do get a business up and running, but are not mandatory.
E-MAIL LISTS!

If someone opts in to your e-mail list.. chances are.. they’re interested in what you’ve got or curious. A lot of websites don’t offer a chance to opt in to an e-mail list and a lot of money is to be made off this. A lot of people who see a website once won’t purchase something because they simply don’t know the source. A couple of e-mails possibly sending out some free methods/tactics or newsletters might change Curious George into a buyer.

Remember.. Internet Marketing is not an overnight task.

You can either sell your own or someone else’s product.

If you’re new to the game.. I don’t recommend purchasing any products, because I guarantee you that 75% of the information you just paid for can be found on a forum for free.

The more consistent you are, the more determined you are, the more it will show. Don’t give up just because you don’t hit the lottery over night because like I said.. if making money online was truly “That easy”, everyone would be doing it.

Pleas give a comment…..

Take care,

Johnny

Depending on your hardware configuration or your level of expertise you can find a good Distro. Now let’s gain some knowledge of various distro that are available.

Arch Linux: KISS principle based distributions.

CentOS: Derived from the same source as Red Hat.

Fedora: Sponsored by Red Hat and maintained by community.

Gentoo: OS especially used to compile applications from source code. Especially designed for expert users.

Knoppix: First distribution which is capable of running from removable media without installing into hard drive.

Kubuntu: KDE version of Ubuntu

Linux Mint: Compatible with ubuntu and a popular distribution.

OpenSUSE: Sponsored by company Novell and derived from Ubuntu.

Oracle Enterprise Linux: Commercially supported by Oracle and a derivative of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux: Maintained and commercially supported by Red Hat and a derivative of Fedora.

Slackware: First Linux distribution founded in 1993. Maintained by Patrick J. Volkerding.

Ubuntu: Undoubtedly the most popular desktop distribution derived from Debian. It is maintained by Canonical. Ubuntu also has its Netbook version called Ubuntu netbook remix. Ubuntu is the distro that we would be talking about in detail.

Xubuntu: It is Xfce version of desktop distro Ubuntu. This is a very light weight distro with functionality of bigger distro like Ubuntu or Opensuse. This is especially designed for PC with low configuration.

There are many other distribution that you can get. I have listed only a few that I remembered. You can choose any one that you like. But I like Ubuntu so, I will be discussing about Ubuntu only.

Ubuntu is a community developed Linux-based operating system that is perfect for laptops, desktops and servers. It contains all the applications you need – a web browser, presentation, document and spreadsheet software, instant messaging and much more.

Ubuntu Philosophy

ü Every computer user should have the freedom to download, run, copy, distribute, study, share, change and improve their software for any purpose, without paying licensing fees.

ü Every computer user should be able to use their software in the language of their choice.

ü Every computer user should be given every opportunity to use software, even if they work under a disability.

The Ubuntu promise

Ubuntu will always be free of charge, including enterprise releases and security updates.

Ubuntu comes with full commercial support from Canonical and hundreds of companies around the world.

Ubuntu includes the very best translations and accessibility infrastructure that the free software community has to offer.

Ubuntu CDs contain only free software applications; we encourage you to use free and open source software, improve it and pass it on.
