Speed up PC with simple tricks II

(1) Windows XP has 100′s of fonts but we rarely use all of them so removing some of them would be a good idea to speed up your PC.

So, removing un-necessary fonts would save some startup time. But remember that windows fonts like Tahoma, Times New Roman, Arial, Verdana, Trebuchet, and MS Sans Serif should never be removed. Removing the fonts might make your system unstable and create a lot of problems in system appearance. The best way is to move the unused fonts to a separate folder on your system so that if you want to use one of those extra fonts again, you just have to copy it back to the fonts folder (located at C:\Windows\Fonts or you can go to control panel and than fonts). When you remove fonts from your computer, you will no longer be able to use them in any software application, including Microsoft Word and Excel. To get to the font folder go to: C:\WINDOWS\Fonts

(2) Defragmenting your hard drive regularly will increase your system performance dramatically.

How to defragment the drives: Go to start → all programs → accessories → system tools → disk defragmenter. You will see various drives in your PC (C: D: E: etc depending on your partition) just click on one of them at a time and click on “Analyze” after a while windows will recommend you either to defragment the volume or you don’t need to defragment the volume. Just follow the instruction and you are done. Remember that the process of defragmentation may take some time depending upon the size of your partition. More the size of your partition more time it will take to defragment.
