1. Acer Aspire TimelineX AS3830TG-6431: Please don’t get scared by the name. What’s in the name?? This laptop is one of the most powerful laptop out there. 2. Dell Inspiron: This laptop not especially designed for gaming purposes but it will do just fine with extra cash. This laptop is powered with second generation Intel core processor. Starting at just $499 it’s a good deal but you will have to spend some more to make it a good gaming machine. 3. Orion PC EON17-S: This laptop is well known for its excellent graphics and easier over clocking capabilities. Orion EON17-S is a bit heavier on pocket as its costs about $1700 and may get as high as $3600.
4. Alienware M18X: Even though the name is Alien, it’s not that Alien among gaming fans as it is one of the most popular brand. M18X has 18 inch screen and Intel core i7 chip which is the fastest on the market today. The cons are its bulky and not that pleasingly designed for eyes. The starting price for this monster is $1999 and can go as high as $5000.
5. Razer Blade: Razer Blade was displayed at CES this year and looks promising. Razer has replaced the touchpad with a screen and eight LED keys which can be configured by user. This system lacks an optical drive but it comes with 256 GB SSD hard drive and costs around $2700.

So, here you go the top five gaming laptop for heavy gamers. One thing that should be well thought is the portability of these devices. Laptops are supposed to be portable and easily carried around. If you are planning to buy one of these laptops make sure that they have a descent display and low weight. Have fun!

Razer Blade

In earlier post we have discussed about the types of computer software and in this post we shall discuss about the System Software in details. System software is one of the most essential part of the computer system. It  is a set of programs that controls, organizes and utilizes the hardware in a computer and deals with the environmental requirement to execute application software. System software consists of four main kind of programs namely Operating system software, utility software, device driver and language translators.

1. Operating System Software

Operating system software is a master among the system software because it controls all the activities that takes place within a computer. It is used to direct input and output of data, keeping track of files and also controlling the processing of computer. Every OS software performs three basic tasks running application, managing resources and providing user interface. It should be noted that modern OS are more machine independent and are capable of running on any hardware platform. Example of OS software are Windows, Linux, Mac OS, Sun Solaris and some more.

2. Utility Program System Software

Utility software are designed to perform special tasks related to the management of computer functions, file compression,  virus protection, computer files and resources, memory management and password protection. Many utility programs are built directly in the operating system for ease and some other utility programs are to be bought separately. Some main categories of utility programs are disk toolkits, backup utility, data compression utilities and virus protection.

3. Device Driver

Device driver is a set of programs that allows other programs to interact with the hardware. These drivers interact with the device through computer bus or communication system. Drivers are OS dependent so driver for Windows OS in almost all cases will not work with the Linux OS.

4. Translator Program

Translator programs are computer programs that converts human convenient programming code to machine readable language. There is one translator program for each programming language. The three basic kinds of translator programs are assembler, compiler and interpreter.

1. Assembler: Assembler is a translator that converts assembly language into machine readable form. The program written in assembly language is called the source program and the machine language program is called object program.
2. Compiler: Compiler is a program that converts high level language into machine code in a single operation. It generally reports all error of the program at once. After we debug the program, it is recompiled and compiler is no linger needed in memory because the object program is available. Some language that uses compiler are C, C++ and FORTRAN.
3. interpreter:  Interpreter is a computer program that translates high level language to machine language line by line. If there is any error in the program in any line, user is notified about the error and program execution is stopped. Interpreter is considered and easy to user translator and uses less memory. BASIC programming language uses interpreter.

Software is nothing but a set of instruction which has one or more programs that is used to control the operation of computer and its hardware. It is time that I tell you that a computer is nothing without software. A computer cannot perform without instruction from user and software kind of acts as a mediator between computer hardware and the user. At this point I would like to define program which is nothing but a set of instruction that is used to perform a specific task. And collection of such programs to control the computer is called software. By now you should have guessed the importance of software in a computer.
Software is the thing that makes computer so valuable and important. Without software computer is only a collection of solid parts without any use. Computer without software is like machine without an operator. The Firefox or internet explorer or chrome whatever you are using, is software that allows you to browse the internet. The very OS (operating system) that you are using is software called system software.
Now, it’s time to learn about the types of software. Software can be broadly classified into two categories which are given below

1.    System Software
2.    Application software

1.    System software: System software is software that controls organizes and utilizes the hardware present in a computer. System software is the essential part of a computer software system. It acts as a medium which deals with the complexities of interaction with the hardware and provides easy way for users to perform task. System software consists of mainly four types of programs Operating System Software, Utility software, device driver software and language translators. We will learn more about this software later.

2.    Application software: Application software is a program that is designed to perform a specific task. Take Microsoft office Word as an example. MS Word is used for word processing and it has been designed to do so efficiently. The main objective of application software is to make most of the work automated and reduce the time consumption. Another main feature of application software design is to make information more easily available which increases the efficiency of the work. There is possibly thousand of application software available in the market.

Well, all of a sudden I just got an idea to search about income of internet top sites like Google, Yahoo, Facebook etc. And after spending an hour or so searching on Google, here is what I have got.

We all know that Google is the top most visited site on the web and no one is prepared well enough to push Google aside. Than it obvious makes sense to say that Google is the top earner site in this list. It is estimated that Google has more than  900 million regular users. With this huge user base google earns nearly $655 per second. Can you believe that?? Google earns most of its revenue from advertising to be precise about 97%.

Facebook is second on the list of most visited site on the web. It is estimated that it has about 700 million monthly users. Even though Facebook is second on the most visited site, its revenue is far more less than Google. Facebook earns about $26 every second. The main revenue source for Facebook is via advertising.

Yahoo is third on the list of most visited sites on the web. Yahoo has about 500 million monthly users. Yahoo earns about $180 per second. Yahoo is well known for its services like News, Mail, Maps and movies. Like others, yahoo also earns through advertising.

YouTube is the fourth most visited site on the web. YouTube has about 450 million regular monthly users. YouTube earns about $13 per second. YouTube is a free video uploading site and is used to freely share your videos. YouTube also makes its money from advertising.

Next on the list is Amazon which doesn’t have a huge user base but it manages to earn more than all other sites mentioned above. Amazon earns about $680 per second. Amazon has an user base of about 325 million monthly regular users. Amazon is well known for selling books and other items.

Well, here we are at the end of another wonderful year for some and not so wonderful for others but in the end we will have to face it. So, lets see what happened in 2011 that caught the eye of the world.

1. Death of Bin Laden: Boy he was hiding for such a long time. He was the target of the greatest man hung in history. He was the man responsible for the twin tower attack which took thousands of lives and unimaginable damage. He was finally caught in Pakistan (not on a cave!!) and killed in a top secret operation carried out by US Army. He was killed on May 2, 2011.

2. Japanese Earthquake: This year was a worse one for people of Japan because they had to face their worse experience once again, the nuclear disaster. The 9.0 Magnitude earthquake hit Japan and created the worse disaster on 2011. This disaster claimed 15,842 lives and possibly more. And even more disturbing was the series of equipment failures, total meltdown and release of radioactive materials from Nuclear Power Plant at Fukushima.

From global issues, lets move to technology and see what people are talking about on the most popular social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter and Youtube. Lets see what was the search trend on these sites.

If somehow you have forgotten your windows password and are looking for way around to login back into your computer then you won’t have to worry.There are many methods are available for resetting password of your windows 7 or vista.But many of them are lengthy or sophisticated.This is one of the simplest method and you only need a windows installation CD/USB to reset the password.It relies on an unpatched bug in windows operating system.

Follow the Following steps:
Insert windows 7 disk into your CD Rom and Restart your computer.

Press any key to Boot from the CD and then click on Repair your Computer.

Now from the various options select Command Prompt.

Now Command Prompt will be open and create a backup of Sticky keys by typing the following command in the command prompt

copy c:\windows\system32\sethc.exe c:\

Now replace sticky keys with the Command Prompt by typing the following command

copy c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe c:\windows\system32\sethc.exe

Now Restart your computer.
When you get the windows login screen then hit Shift button for 5 times continuously and Administrative Mode of Command Prompt will be open.

Now to reset the password just type the following command in the command prompt

net user crazyblogger MyNewPassword

Remember: crazyblogger is the username of the computer and MyNewPassword is the password. Replace both as you wish.

Login in your computer system with your new Username and Password.

Now every time when you press Shift key for 5 times then command prompt will be open instead of Sticky keys. To get back these Sticky keys repeat first three steps and then in the command prompt window type the following command.

copy c:\sethc.exe c:\windows\system32\sethc.exe

That’s it. Done !

So, you are worried that your kids are playing too much games in a particular site or you just want to block few site on your computer or whatever your reason may be, here is a way. Pleas note that this process will block the site on single computer where this process was done.

It is easy to block a website on a computer using any software or just by changing the DNS server and changing few settings but if you don’t want to use any additional software or service then in this case too, you can block websites on your Windows machine. All you will require for this is :

1. A windows machine
2. A text editor (notepad will do)
3. A web browser

Just follow the steps given below to block a particular website.

1. Go to C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
2. Find the file named “HOSTS”
3. Open it using notepad.
4. Under “127.0.0.1 localhost” Add 127.0.0.2 www.orkut.com , and that site will no longer be accessible.
5. Done!

E.g.

127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.0.2 www.orkut.com

- www.orkut.com will not be accessible anymore.

If you want to add more sites then just increment the IP address by one and add it to the list.

i.e.

127.0.0.3 www.yahoo.com (if you want to block yahoo)
127.0.0.4 www.msn.com (if you want to block msn)
127.0.0.5 www.google.com (if you want to block google)

127.0.0.6 www.facebook.com (if you want to block facebook)

127.0.07 www.youtube.com (if you want to block youtube)

You can use this trick to block popup sites as well or any other advertising site.

Skype is a very popular means of voice and video calling which can be used with the help of the Internet. Skype has been designed based on the Kazaa file sharing program. The headquarters of Skype is in Luxembourg and France. It also has offices in many other parts of Europe, Asia as well as the United States of America.

There are two main kinds of machines which will be used as a part of the Skype network. One is known as the ordinary host or the Skype client while the other is the super node or SN. Any normal person who is making use of Skype will be considered as an ordinary host which has been connected to the super node. These super nodes are the names which have been given to the various servers of Skype which can be found in many different parts of the world. However the Skype client should also be aware of the server to which the connection needs to be established.

Every Skype client will have a table which will contain the IP addresses and port numbers of all the super nodes which are available. This is also known as the host cache and it will be found in the windows registry of the Skype client. Every time, a user logs into Skype from his computer, the data from the host cache will be read first and the first IP port will be selected. Then the Skype client will connect to that super node.
It is not possible to conduct a trace of a Skype client very easily. However if a policeman or a law enforcement officer has managed to obtain a court order then the people working at Skype will be forced to reveal details which can be obtained from their logs starting from the name and address of the user to the time at which the call has been made.

A lot of people decide to make use of vouchers in order to make Skype payments. But some people will provide a false name and address when they are making these voucher payments on Skype. But these false names and addresses will definitely appear on the Skype logs. It is also possible for law enforcement people to obtain a court order and ask the Internet service provider to provide the name and address of the specific person who is being investigated. So, here are the steps involved in installing adobe flash plugin,

1. Go to application and than select Ubuntu Software center.

3. On the Ubuntu Software center window, go to search filed and type “Flash”
4. By now, you should see a list of software and among them we are looking for one with Flash icon.
5. 
6. Once you gave seen that, click on it and then click on More Info.
7. Now you will see a new window with Install button right next to the Flash icon.

9. Just click on the install button and installation process should start automatically.

    

   That is it. You have just installed flash plugin with writing a single command. Isn’t that great !

Oh one more thing. The screenshot you are seeing is the one when you already have flash on your system. I already have flash plugin on my system while writing this so, I just wanted to save some bandwidth by not downloading it again. Call me lazy !!! But the screen should look the same for the system which doesn’t have flash plugin.
