District 9 Movie Review

A science fiction film District 9 is directed by Neill Blomkamp and written by Blomkamp and Terri Tatchell. This movie is produced for $30 million and it’s in a style of documentary with fictional interviews, news and videos.  It was released in 14th August 2099 and managed to earn $37 million on its premier weekend.

The movie is a work of science fiction. In 1982 alien spaceship landed above Johannesburg South Africa. After that there was a massive fear of interstellar war between human and Aliens. The whole world was very anxious and in high alert. But on the total contrast Aliens themselves were seeking shelter on Earth. They came to Earth in search of shelter because their home planet was completely destroyed. Humans were preparing for the war but in total contrast they were forced to give asylum to millions of Aliens in Johannesburg South Africa. The area where the Aliens were habituated was called District 9. The story of the movie revolves around this area.

The main character in District 9 is Wikus van de Merwe (Sharlto Copley). He is a worker at the Multi national Union (MNU) Department of Relations with Extraterrestrial Civilizations. MNU is managing the situation of Aliens in District 9. During his work in District 9 he gets infected by alien DNA and his body starts to change like an alien. The story revolves around his situation.

The reception got by District 9 was good in United States and Canada. Critics received this movie positively. A very popular movie review site Rotten Tomatoes gave an score of 7.8 out of 10 for this movie and the site wrote “Technically brilliant and emotionally wrenching, District 9 has action, imagination, and all the elements of a thoroughly entertaining science-fiction classic.”

So I say that you have to watch this movie once. It’s great.
