GOM Player: My favorite media player
GOM Player is freeware and released for non-commercial use only. Anyone may freely use and distribute this software, whether in a private, public or corporate capacity, for non-commercial purposes. First release of GOM Player was done in 2003/01/07. After that GOM Player has evolved so much that it’s like any of those Professional Media Player out there now like windows media player. Another important thing is that it’s free as well.
What this player does is play everything. I mean it plays variety of Audio and video files. It’s hard to find a type of media that it doesn’t play. GOM Player includes many codecs (XviD, DivX, FLV1, AC3, OGG, MP4, H263 and more) and you won’t need to install separate codecs for most videos. For those videos that require a separate codec, GOM Player will find one and direct you to a place where you can download an open source version of the codec. There are an endless number of advanced features. Customize brightness, contrast and saturation. windows media player is also good but it has its own limitations when its comes to playing some file types.
One great feature of this player is that it has the capacity to play broken AVI Files. AVI files can’t be played if the index is broken, or if the file isn’t completely downloaded. This is because the index is located at the end of the file. GOM Player’s patented technology enables users to view files with broken indexes or that are still being downloaded.
