How to remove entries for Add/remove programs in Vista

You obviously know where add/remove programs is in vista. If you are not sure than here is how you go to add/remove program. First click on start and then control panel, and finally you will see this feature. There are several reasons that you want to remove the entries in add/remove programs one might be that your list looks really dirty and long. Another great reason can be that you don’t want your kids to know that you have installed any monitoring programs. If there are programs that you never intend to uninstall then you can remove these entries to make the list clean. In this guide we will learn how to remove entries from add/remove programs. Here is the procedure to remove the programs from the list.

  1. Press Flag key and then R                                   regedit
  2. Type regedit and then press enter
  3. You will see the registry editor window.
  4. Now, go to following entry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
  5. On the left hand side you will see the programs and on the right panel you will see the display name.
  6. Find the name which you want to hide in the list. Select the key in the left panel and then got to File>Export
  7. Choose a desired name and save it. This is done to ensure that you can restore the entry if you want to uninstall the program later on.
  8. You have taken the backup and now you are ready to delete the entry. Simply right click the entry and then choose delete.

Please make sure that you take proper backup before following these instruction just in case you screw things up.
